2020 Mazda CX-30 vs. 2020 Hyundai Venue

The new Mazda CX-30 is disrupting the compact SUV segment with spirited performance, excellent versatility, acclaimed quality and more. The IIHS selected the CX-30 as a 2020 Top Safety Pick that recognizes the CX-30’s advanced design and safety focus. Many new compact SUVs have appeared in the segment, and it can be difficult in determining the best. Here, we help you by comparing the CX-30 to another new competitor, the 2020 Hyundai Venue.

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 pulls far ahead in performance

Whether you have an eye for efficiency or power, the CX-30 offers two engines that don’t forget either. The entry CX-30 GX features a 2.0L four-cylinder that outputs 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque, offering nimble performance and FWD. You can personalize your driving experience with the standard six-speed automatic transmission that includes manual mode and a drive selection switch. AWD is available on the GX.

The CX-30 GS FWD, GS AWD, and GT AWD have a 2.5L four-cylinder that boosts horsepower to 186 and torque to an even 186 lb-ft. This engine also pairs with the six-speed automatic transmission, and the GT model receives paddle shifters that contribute to the most exhilarating driving experience of all models.

The Hyundai Venue includes one engine for its entire model lineup: a 1.6-litre four-cylinder that peaks at 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque. This is far under the capabilities of the CX-30, and highway and cross-country driving could present challenges when overtaking or merging. The entire lineup does not offer AWD. This can limit the vehicle’s capabilities as road conditions change.

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 offers more interior volume

When versatility is important, the CX-30 is the dominant choice. It offers up to 1,280 litres of cargo volume behind the front seats and 572 litres behind the rear seats. That is a significant difference compared to the Venue, which only offers 903 litres behind the front seats and 527 litres behind the rear seats.

Front row occupants in the CX-30 enjoy more leg and shoulder room, and rear seat passengers also have leg and shoulder advantages over the Venue’s measurements. Overall, the CX-30 has a roomier and more flexible cabin.

The Mazda CX-30 is faster, sportier and more versatile than the Venue. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions about the 2020 Mazda CX-30.
