2020 Mazda CX-9 vs 2020 Kia Sorento
December 18 2019,
There is nothing more precious in life than the ones we love: Our family. And being a parent is without a shadow of a doubt the hardest job; we work tirelessly at keeping our children as safe and comfortable as possible. It is for families like yours that car makers build the safest vehicles ever. And as far as comfort is concerned, few segments offer as much space, storage and room for everyone as the midsize 3-row SUV segment.
Among the many options here, the 2020 Mazda CX-9 and 2020 Kia Sorento are two major players. Both cater to families with the intent to make lives easier and less challenging. With generous-sized trunks and accessible 3rd rows, there’s always room for one more friend, pet or hockey bag.
With everyone on board, it’s good to know that all will be entertained through the vast series of standard features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a good audio system and an included 7-inch touchscreen. The Mazda CX-9 offers an available 9-inch screen as of the second trim up, which is indicative of Mazda’s advanced premium feel. Although the Kia Sorento is ergonomically presented, the CX-9’s opulent materials and novel layout are very much like what one expects from a luxury vehicle.
In fact, aesthetically, the new 2020 Mazda CX-9’s design is extremely pleasing to the eye and in order to keep the sheetmetal pristine, Mazda’s included a full and complete battery of safety features as standard. Technologies such as Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning and Lane-keep Assist Systems and many others are included with the base model. Some of these technologies are offered only with the top-most and more expensive Kia Sorento trims.
Mazda products are not only about safety and amenities – Mazda firmly believes in the driving experience. This explains why the CX-9 is powered by a sophisticated turbocharged Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. With up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque, the CX-9’s featured powertrain is not only far more powerful but its fuel consumption is nearly on par with the Sorento’s 175-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. With AWD, the Mazda returns 11.6L/9.1L/100km while the 2.4L manages 11.2L/9.0L/100km (city/highway). Compared to the Kia’s available 3.3-liter V6, the Mazda’s 2.5L not only generates at least 60 lb.-ft. more torque but is far more fuel efficient. The V6 averages 12.3L/9.5L/100km.
