2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Debuts in Canada, Bolsters Electrified SUV Offerings

Mazda Canada has unveiled the 2025 CX-50 lineup, featuring a new hybrid variant that significantly expands the compact SUV's appeal. The CX-50 Hybrid, starting at $42,950, joins the existing gasoline models to offer Canadian consumers a more fuel-efficient option in the competitive C-SUV segment.

Improved Fuel Economy and Performance

The CX-50 Hybrid utilizes the Toyota Hybrid System, combining a 2.5L engine with electric motors to produce 219 horsepower. Mazda estimates a fuel economy of 6.2 L/100km combined, representing a 40% improvement over the standard 2.5L models. This increased efficiency allows drivers to extend their range for outdoor activities and daily commutes alike.

Enhanced Safety Features

All 2025 CX-50 models receive upgrades to Mazda's i-ACTIVSENSE safety suite. New additions include vehicle exit warning and improved Smart Brake Support with nighttime pedestrian detection and head-on collision mitigation. The lineup also introduces Private eCall and Stolen Vehicle Assistance for emergency situations.

Pricing and Trim Levels

The 2025 CX-50 range starts at $39,950 for the base GS-L model, while the new hybrid variant begins at $42,950. The lineup extends to the performance-oriented GT Turbo at $47,850 and tops out with the adventure-ready Meridian Edition Apex Package at $51,750.

Hybrid-Specific Features

CX-50 Hybrid models are distinguished by unique wheel designs and a modified lower front bumper. Inside, a new Garnet Red leather interior option is available. The hybrid powertrain includes electric all-wheel drive (eAWD) and various drive modes for different conditions.

Technology and Comfort Upgrades

Across the lineup, Mazda has added Alexa Built-in functionality and wireless phone charging to more accessible trim levels. Higher-end models feature ventilated seats, premium audio systems, and advanced driver assistance technologies like Cruising & Traffic Support.

The 2025 Mazda CX-50, including the new hybrid variant, aims to combine the brand's signature driving dynamics with improved efficiency and enhanced features. This expansion of the CX-50 range reflects Mazda's commitment to offering diverse powertrain options to meet varying customer needs in the Canadian market.
