The 2023 Mazda MX-30 really has a lot to offer as an electric vehicle

As gas prices continue to rise, many consumers are considering buying an electric vehicle for their next vehicle. With more and more EV models being offered on the market, it has never been a better time to consider making the switch to electric, and if you are looking for a fun, dynamic, and enjoyable vehicle that is also a lot of fun to drive while also being electric, the new MX-30 is for you.

About the range

There is 161 kilometers of range in the 2022 Mazda MX-30. Since the MX-30 was unveiled, this has been a hot topic since it is less than that of other electric vehicles. However, we would like to ask you a quick question. In a day, how many times do you drive over 150 km? Does that even constitute a week's worth of driving? Mazda engineers designed the new MX-30 to take into account the average commute of Canadians which multiple studies have shown is just over 20 kilometres. The company also discovered that consumers placed just as much value on charging time as on range.

It charges a lot faster than other electric vehicles

Due to the Mazda MX-30's smaller battery capacity of 35.5 kWh, it can charge much faster than other electric vehicles.  If you use a 50 kW charger, you can cover 80% of your range in 36 minutes with a level III charger. A level III charger can charge other electric vehicles in under an hour, but they usually require 150 kW. Charging on a 50 kW charger will require 90 minutes to 2 hours for most EVs.

It takes the Mazda MX-30 less than three hours to charge despite its 161 km range. Consider a trip that is 450 kilometers. In a traditional electric vehicle, you can drive 350 kilometers before needing to charge for 10 to 12 hours. On the other hand, iIt will take you about six hours to fully charge a Mazda MX-30 twice on the way. So, in essence, you have completed the same distance in a Mazda MX-30, but charging was nearly twice as fast.

Obviously there are a lot of factors that go into this, but you get the general idea. With a quicker charging time, the Mazda MX-30’s range isn’t really a disadvantage. Give us a call today to learn more!
