The 2023 Mazda3 is the Safest Small Car on the Road

The all-new Mazda3 has been put to the test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it has come out on top as the only small car to earn a "Good" rating in the new and tougher side impact test. This updated test uses a heavier barrier travelling at a higher speed than the striking vehicle, and the Mazda3 was indeed the only vehicle out of 11 tested to earn a "Good" rating across all categories.
What does this mean for you? It means that you can feel confident knowing that your Mazda3 is one of the safest small cars on the road. But Mazda didn't stop there. To help reduce the injuries of Mazda3 occupants in case of an accident, all the 2023 model year and beyond will be equipped with added rear side airbags, seat belt pretensioners, and seat belt load limiters.

Furthermore, Mazda is truly committed to safety, and it shows in its vehicles. The 2017-22 Mazda CX-5 and CX-9 both earned a "Good" rating from the IIHS, standing out as the only out of 20 and one of only two vehicles in their class to do so, respectively.
In addition, all of the tested vehicles have earned the IIHS 2022 TOP SAFETY PICK+, the highest award in safety. These vehicles include the Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback, CX-30, CX-5, and CX-9, and the all-new CX-50.
