The new electric Mazda MX-30 unveiled in Tokyo
October 28 2019,
The Mazda MX-30 was unveiled at the last Tokyo Motor Show last week and it's a big deal. This is Mazda's first all-electric mass-produced vehicle and it will hit the market next year. Here's what we know about the new Mazda MX-30 electric vehicle.
It will be powered by a 100% electric motor that draws its power from a 35.5-kWh battery. We do not know the full range of the Mazda MX-30, but with such a battery it will offer more than 200 kilometres, that's for sure. In addition, there are rumours that the Mazda MX-30 will eventually be offered with a range extender that will be based on the Wankel rotary engine that Mazda offered in the past.
Yes, this engine is based on the legendary Mazda RX of the past, but that's not all. The Mazda MX-30 also offers rear-opening suicide doors that, despite their name, offer interesting benefits such as easier access to the cabin. The Mazda MX-30 has also been completely redesigned inside and offers a brand-new digital center console and a new design never before seen on other Mazda models.
